The world unnoticed

It’s easy to forget that Earth’s surface is predominantly covered by water, and that oceans are full of diverse seascapes and ecosystems which rival anything we see on land. It’s not until I experienced some good snorkelling locations that I started to appreciate the sheer number and variety of fish out there, not to mention some interesting benthic creatures.  The Gold Coast Seaway is a great spot for a snorkel or dive, as it’s very easy to access and has abundant marine life right from the jump-in spot – apparently over 200 fish species have been spotted in there!

This morning’s conditions were perfect – light winds, small swell and a big high tide, with good visibility and warm water. Here’s a few happy snaps and a video clip from some recent outings (mostly today):

A school of pineapple fish (my pet name) near the short pipe.

Clay enjoying the clear water.

These little buggers are everywhere, but they look cool.

Jared on his first expedition into the ocean.

The Jaws viewpoint.
