The title of this post probably isn’t accurate; it’s more why I love learning. Learning about how the world works can be a lot of fun, and those ‘Aha!’ moments where something new clicks into place are very cool. Science offers the best toolkit for this process of discovery, with all kinds of methods and technologies that allow us to see and understand things which would otherwise be out of reach – everything from bacteria to supernovae.
In non-scientific affairs, I had a great time at the Big Day Out yesterday – Muse cemeted their position in my mind as the most awesome and extravagant rock band in the world right now, with the rest of the day rounded out by quality sets from Karnivool, The Temper Trap, The Decemberists, Rise Against and The Mars Volta (among others). The only downside is the festival fever (aka common cold) I picked up.
Oh, and in a development reported by bystanders as making them “green with envy”, my GoPro HD boardcam arrived today… stay tuned for barrel footage!
