Definitely not Pro

After getting a ridiculous amount of barrels at Straddie on Saturday, I made the paddle again this morning. The swell was bigger and closing out more, so I took a few boardcam videos with the GoPro but gave up and went for a swim to take still shots instead.

Straddie defies the light seabreeze and throws out a ridiculous barrel.

Unfortunately it’d been long enough since I last shot that I was forgetting to hold the camera vertical while pulling through the back of waves, so a lot of the shots were framed too low – easy to do with such a small camera. A bit frustrating, but it was still fun. The light was pretty glary too, which the auto-exposure sensor in the GoPro doesn’t like. A few frames turned out OK – enjoy!

I also had a chat with a guy in the surf who it turns out I’ve been following on Flickr – Jacob Lambert (he’s the bodyboarder on the righthander in the slideshow), check out his blog here. Some great shots!
