Sunday Science: The Science Network

Another of this year’s excellent crop of group projects was the Science Network, a parody of the Social Network (a recent movie about Facebook).

Ben, Polly and Katya took the trailer and turned it into the invention of PubMed, a biomedical paper database which helped to revolutionise online journal searching and linking. There were strong philosophical and rational ideas underpinning the project, but it was also a right laugh.

Here’s the parody; if you haven’t seen the Social Network, or want to brush up on the trailer, check it out on youtube here.

And the obligatory gag reel. Note: I’m the guy burning stuff and getting intimate with coursemate Polly in the toilet… it was a little awkward! Great fun though, I think they did a very good job considering they started with very little film making experience at all!

This was great, especially the ‘sorry?’ bit at the end which made me lol so much. And you scored the best role, Pyro McSnoggington! Looks like you had a blast.

  2. Dave – me thinks you guys have a little too much time on your hands

Pyro McSnoggington. Quite a catchy non de plume for you there.

  4. I like it. I might have to start using it. Snoggy P for short.
